The official INAH car park at Chichen Itza
The archaeological zone is run by INAH, Mexico's National Institute of Anthropology and History, and so is the car park at the visitor entrance. OpenStreetMap lists it as a surface lot on asphalt with 700 spaces, access for site visitors and cash payment at the gate (OpenStreetMap). No rate and no opening hours are recorded on the map, and we do not publish figures we cannot link to, so bring pesos in cash and check the price at the barrier. A lot mapped as free next to Chichen Itza
The car park of Hotel Villas Arqueológicas, about 800 m from El Castillo, is the only lot in the extract tagged as free (fee: no). OpenStreetMap does not record who may use it, so assume it is for hotel guests and restaurant customers and ask at the desk before leaving the car there. Parking in Piste, the village next to Chichen Itza
Piste is the town on federal road 180 just west of the site. Three named lots appear on the map there: Hacienda Xay-be at 2.26 km, an OXXO convenience store at 2.29 km and Posada Maya at 2.45 km, all straight-line distances. They belong to businesses, so they are an option for customers rather than public visitor parking. From Piste you reach the entrance along the 180, on foot or by taxi. We do not publish walking or driving minutes because no source we can link to provides them.
Bicycle parking at Chichen Itza
Our OpenStreetMap extract of 2026-09-16 contains 0 bicycle parking facilities within 3 km of the pyramid. If you cycle in from Piste or from a nearby hotel, plan to lock the bike to a fixed object near the entrance and ask staff where it is allowed.
How we checked this
We downloaded the OpenStreetMap extract for a box around the site through the OSM API on 2026-09-16, kept every object tagged amenity=parking or amenity=bicycle_parking, and measured the straight-line distance from each one to El Castillo (20.6843, -88.5678). Straight-line means as the crow flies, not the walk from the car to the pyramid. The table shows exactly what the map holds, including blanks: where OpenStreetMap has no capacity, fee or access tag, the cell says so instead of guessing. We will run the same extract again on 2027-03-16. Anything you see on the ground that differs from the table, tell us and we will correct the data.
