Exploring the site
Distances between Coba's ruin groups are long, so renting a bike or hopping in a pedicab is the easy way to cover them. The main structures include a ball court, carved stelae and the Nohoch Mul group, the tallest pyramid in the northern Yucatan.
Coba is closer to Tulum than to Chichen Itza, so it is often combined with the coast rather than the same day as the great pyramid. Go early, bring water and insect repellent, and allow two to three hours.
